THE STORY BEGAN IN CHICAGO’S LITTLE VILLAGE NEIGHBORHOOD IN 1973, MAKING LOS COMALES ONE OF THE FIRST TAQUERÍAS IN CHICAGO. OUR LOCATION HERE IN AUSTIN HAS BEEN OPEN FOR OVER 20 YEARS SERVING THE BEST AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD IN ATX.

OUR HISTORY
LOS COMALES FOUNDER AND PATRIARCH CAMERINO GONZALEZ HAD A DREAM OF A BETTER LIFE IN THE UNITED STATES, WHICH LED TO THE IDEA OF BRINGING THE COMFORT FOODS, AROMAS, AND FLAVORS OF MEXICO TO HIS COMMUNITY.
This inspiration led him to open up a small taco stand-style restaurant in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood in 1973, making Los Comales one of the first taquerías in Chicago. With the casual atmosphere of a diner, Camerino worked the grill to serve up fresh, hot, and delicious Mexico City-style tacos to as many customers as he could fit into the quaint little taquería.
In addition to expanding the Los Comales brand, Los Comales has also extended its reach with quality catering services. We have had the distinct honor of catering for several Chicago mayors throughout the years, in addition to events both large and small, and for well-known companies including Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, along with local favorites and private events.
Family operated and with a menu based on our heritage, Los Comales is a legacy that Camerino built for the community, and we proudly dedicate ourselves to carrying on this dream for generations to come. Taqueria Los Comales made a promise to it’s patrons more than four decades ago-to serve fresh, fast, and delicious authentic Mexican food to its patrons.
